PHmuseum is glad to open the call of the PHmuseum 2020 Women Photographers Grant, aimed at empowering the work and careers of female and non-binary professionals of all ages and from all countries, working in diverse areas of photography. Moving into the fourth edition, the grant's mission remains to support the growth of the new generations and promote stories narrated from a female perspective, while responding to the need to work for gender equality in the industry.

The prizes include $12,000 in cash prizes plus several opportunities to promote the awarded works across media and festivals. Vogue Italia photography department, led by Alessia Glaviano, will select three works among all of the submissions that will be granted an online publication in the magazine. All the shortlisted works (up to 40) will be also projected at the coming edition of Photo Vogue Festival.

PHmuseums curators will further select eight photographers who will each access a free 60-minute online portfolio review from the innovative PHmuseum Educational Program, plus an additional three who will be featured on the Swiss online publication YET Magazine. The New Generation Prize, awarded to a photographer under 30 years of age, will include a one-hour online portfolio review with Fiona Rogers, Founder of Firecracker and Director of Photography & Operations at Webber. Firecracker will also feature the 1st prize winner project on its platform.

Applicants are invited to enter series, featuring a minimum of 6 images and a maximum of 20 centered, around a specific theme, narrative, or concept. All approaches are welcomed, from classic narratives to experimental projects. Submissions will be reviewed by judges Adama Delphine Fawundu (Artist and co-founder of MFON), Mariama Attah (Curator at Open Eye Gallery Photography Museum in Liverpool), Magdalena Herrera (Director of Photography Geo France) and River Bullock (Curatorial Fellow, MoMA Department of Photography). Photographers can benefit from a 18 early bird fee during the first two weeks of the application window.

This fourth edition is kindly supported by Vogue Italia, Fotografia Europea, YET Magazine, Firecracker, Foto Feminas, and Fotografas Latam.
